Hocking Hills State Park offers its visitors a wide array of outdoor
adventures and family getaway options. Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar
Falls, Conkle's Hollow and Rock House offer hiking trails displaying such
features as recess caves, huge waterfalls and rock formations not found
anywhere else in the U.S. A naturalist is at the park year-around offering
nature-oriented educational programs. |

State Park Lodging:
Cottages: there are 40 gas-heated,
air-conditioned cottages sleeping up to six persons Each cottage has two
bedrooms (one with two twin beds; one with a double bed), bath with a
shower, living room with a trundle sofa, gas-burning fireplace, microwave,
complete kitchen, dining area and screened porch.
Camping: there are 159 electric sites with 20, 30 or
50 amp electric and 13 non-electric sites Each site has a paved pad and can
accommodate up to a 50' unit. All sites are pet-friendly but limited number
of pets. Campground includes:
- Heated showers
- Flush toilets
- Laundry facility
- Camp store
- Swimming pool
- Playgrounds
- Volleyball court and horse shoe pit.
- Reservations are required for the group camp areas which allow tents
only. There are also 30 walk-in family sites with pit latrines.
Camper Cabins: 3 with cots and bench
beds, cooler, stove and camp light. Seasonal: Available May through October
and reservations can be made by calling the park office at (740) 385-6841.

Park Activities:
Hiking: There are
over 25 miles of trail located throughout the park. Adjacent
state forest land offers even more. These trails are beautiful
as well as potentially dangerous: caution and common sense are
advised.
Picnicking:
- Picnic areas with tables, grills, latrines and drinking
water are located at each of the recess caves
- The shelters at Old Man's Cave and Ash Cave may be
reserved by calling the park office at (740) 385-6841
- The shelters at Rock House and Cantwell Cliffs are
first-come- first-served.
Fishing:
At Rose Lake.
Access is off State Route 374 via a
1/2-mile hiking trail.
Swimming:
pool outside the dining lodge is free to cottage guests 11 a.m.
to 6 p.m. daily, Memorial Day to Labor Day. It is open to the
general public for a daily fee. There is also a pool in the
campground for campers.

43rd 3rd Annual Winter Hike
January 19 -
Continuous starts from 9-11 AM
Enjoy winters splendor on this 6-mile trek from
Old
Man’s Cave to Ash Cave. Layered clothing and
good footwear recommended. Refreshments are
available at Cedar Falls for a donation. A
shuttle bus returns hikers to Old Man’s Cave.
Sweethearts Hike
February 9
- 5-7 PM
Meet at the Ash Cave parking lot. Take your
sweetheart for a romantic stroll to Ash Cave in
the soft light of dusk. Afterwards, enjoy a cozy
fire and refreshments.
Maple Sugaring in the Hills
March 8 & 9-
12-4 PM
Join us at the Naturalist Cabin located behind
the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center. Savor the
taste of the season as we boil down our local
maple sap. Discover the many methods used
throughout history to make this tasty treat.

your hand at the Frontier Trail Games on Sunday

along the Hocking Valley Birding Trail route for
a variety of programs, hikes and events to
celebrate the return of our avian friends.
Grandma Gatewood’s Fall Colors Hike October 18-
1:00 PM
Bring along a cool drink and celebrate the
season’s colors. Meet with the naturalist at the
Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center for a strenuous
hike that spans roughly 6 miles of the Grandma
Gatewood trail. We will be traversing the
section that runs from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar
Falls and back while enjoying the scenic beauty
and cultural personality. This hike does include
several hills and steps and is not recommended
for the easily winded individual. (Approx. 3to4
hrs)
Haunted Hocking Weekend
October 31 & November 1
Join with the Haunted Hocking “HIT” team as they
search for the
unexplained at Ash Cave or try your hand at
Pumpkin decorating. Registered campers and cabin
guest can enjoy a hayride, a family fun spooky
movie, site judging, and trick or treat at Old
Man’s Cave campground. Regular camping & cabin
fees apply.
Christmas in Ash Cave
December 13-
5 – 7 PM
Step away from the hectic holiday season and
come bundled for the weather while enjoying a
lighted stroll back to Ash Cave. Once you arrive
at the cave warm with refreshments by an open
fire. Listen to or join with our carolers, have
the kids visit with an old fashion Santa or help
to decorate our Christmas tree for wildlife. |
